Dear ISODP Members and Colleagues,
It is a great honor for me to assume the role of President of ISODP for the 2025-2027 term. Looking back on the succession of those who’ve served before me, I am also humbled to be in the company of some true luminaries in the history of our Society. Our membership is broad and diverse, with committed and talented experts from literally every region of the world, and those of us who serve on the Council are truly privileged to lead on behalf of this distinguished membership.
As we enter the second quarter of the 21st Century, the vital work we do in giving those who await transplant a second chance at life continues to evolve as it always has. New challenges and new opportunities present themselves with regularity. Our membership, the world’s organ donation professionals, meet these challenges and pursue these opportunities to maximize the gift of organ donation, resulting in ever increasing numbers of donors and transplants worldwide.
Despite these increases, the gap between the need for a transplant and the availability of donated organs remains wide. As a Society, we must continue to help our members rise to meet the need, to meet the challenge of narrowing that gap and making transplantation available to more of the world. Leading these efforts will be four standing workgroups focused on areas of opportunity.
Additionally, the quarterly Journal Watch, a highly successful resource produced by ISODP members, will continue to be a benefit of membership. I would encourage members to check these out as you have time.

It was great to see so many of you at the Congress in Kyoto. The program was excellent, the energy in the hall was noticeable, and I believe everyone in attendance learned and grew in meaningful ways. For those who weren’t there, I had the opportunity to make some remarks from the podium and included in those remarks were the focal points of my presidency:
For those who attended ISODP 2025 in Kyoto, I invite you to take part in our survey below. The information collected is essential improving our member services and future Congress planning. We appreciate a few minutes of your time for give us your feedback.

In closing, I am honored to serve the Society as President and I look forward to working with the marvelous group who make up our ISODP Council to pursue these focal points, to involve and support our members, and to help drive improvement in the science and practice of organ donation. I want to thank our members for their continuing membership in the Society, and I want invite our members who are interested in being more involved to reach out to our work group leaders or to our Council members and volunteer to participate. Finally, I invite any non-member to join the ISODP and to enjoy the benefits of being a member of the Society.
Sincerely,
Jeff Orlowski
