TTS Seeking a New Editor-in-Chief for Transplantation and Transplantation Direct

Jeremy Chapman

Editor-in-Chief
Transplantation Journals
Professor Jeremy R. Chapman, a dedicated leader at the helm of Transplantation and Transplantation Direct, has announced his intention to retire from the role of Editor-in-Chief of The Transplantation Society’s journals at the close of 2024.
Prof. Chapman's profound commitment to The Transplantation Society (TTS) spans over a quarter-century, during which he has undertaken multiple pivotal roles, from Councilor to President. Notably, his tenure as Editor-in-Chief over the past decade has yielded a remarkable transformation in our publications. Under his steadfast guidance, we witnessed the inception of our open-access journal, Transplantation Direct, significant enhancements in submission procedures, expedited review times and new innovations that have resulted in a significant uptrend in our impact factor and readership. Prof. Chapman's unwavering dedication extended to assembling an exceptional team, whose collaborative efforts have been instrumental in achieving these milestones. His impending retirement will close an exceptional chapter in TTS history.
As we embark on a new chapter, we are inviting applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief, which will commence on July 1, 2024, with a six-month transitional period leading to full responsibility for the journals as of January 1, 2025. The initial term of service is set for five years, with the potential for renewal. The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2023. For a comprehensive overview of this opportunity, please click on the link below. We look forward to welcoming the next visionary leader who will continue the legacy of excellence in our publications.

What’s New: Updates on Cytomegalovirus in Solid Organ Transplantation
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is one of the most common infections occurring after solid organ transplantation. This high burden of disease, which incurs sizeable morbidity, may be worsening with the proportion of high-risk D+/R− solid organ transplantation recipients increasing in some regions globally. Cohort studies continue to support either universal prophylaxis or preemptive therapy as effective prevention strategies.
TMA in Kidney Transplantation
Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) is a rare and devastating complication of kidney transplantation, which often leads to graft failure. Posttransplant TMA (PT-TMA) may occur either de novo or as a recurrence of the disease. De novo TMA can be triggered by immunosuppressant drugs, antibody-mediated rejection, viral infections, and ischemia/reperfusion injury in patients with no evidence of the disease before transplantation.

Transplantation Direct - November Issue
Delayed Graft Function Among Kidney Transplant Recipients Is Associated With an Increased Risk of Urinary Tract Infection and BK Viremia
Delayed graft function (DGF) among deceased donor kidney transplant recipients (DDKTRs) is a well-known risk factor for allograft rejection, decreased graft survival, and increased cost. Although DGF is associated with an increased risk of rejection, it is unclear whether it also increases the risk of infection.
