Cell Transplant and Regenerative Medicine Society Webinar Presentation - Monday, April 13, 2026

From Exosomes to Engineered Vessels: Innovations in Cardiovascular Regenerative Transplantation

Monday, April 13, 2026 - 12:00 PM (Local time in Montreal)
Local time (Corresponding local time at your current location)
The duration of this presentation is scheduled for 60 minutes.

Overview

Dr. Behfar will discuss theranostics use of exosomes in cardiovascular medicine.

Dr. Zimmermann will discuss current clinical status of tissue engineered blood grafts in pediatric and congenital heart surgery

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the role of exosome-based theranostics in cardiovascular disease, including applications in myocardial infarction, heart failure, transplant rejection, and organ preservation.
  • Explain translational strategies for regenerative therapeutics, including cell-free and cell-based platforms advancing toward early-phase clinical trials.
  • Discuss the current clinical status of tissue-engineered vascular grafts in pediatric and congenital heart surgery, including long-term outcomes and growth potential.
  • Compare tissue-engineered grafts with prosthetic materials in terms of durability, remodeling, and implications for regenerative transplantation.
  • Identify emerging innovations to expand the heart transplant pool, including ex vivo organ preservation, HLA modification, and exosome-induced resilience to ischemia–reperfusion injury.
