Dr. Husain is currently the Director of the Transplant Infectious Diseases department of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Multi-Organ Transplantation at the University Health Network in addition to being a member of the Antimicrobial Stewardship team at Mount Sinai Hospital-University Health Network. Shahid is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Husain is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Transplant Infectious Diseases and has served as Chairman of the Infectious Diseases Council of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation. He is actively involved with other professional societies and is an active contributor in the development of guidelines for the management of infections in solid organ transplant recipients on the behest of American Thoracic Society and American Society of Transplantation. Dr. Husain’s research has focused on the risk factors and outcomes of infections in solid organ transplant recipients. His funded clinical research is directed towards evaluation of diagnostic tests for early diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis, development of appropriate antiviral and antifungal prophylactic strategies in immunocompromised hosts. He had been funded through the National Institute of Health and Center for Disease Control for evaluating the role of a novel pathogen Simkania negevensis and cohort study in lung transplant recipients evaluating the risk factors of invasive mycosis respectively.

Prof. Slavin is Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and a Centre of Research Excellence, The National Centre for Infections in Cancer. She is inaugural Chair of Infections in Cancer and Transplantation at the University of Melbourne. Her work focusses on Infections in the immunocompromised host, particularly invasive fungal infection. She has held leadership roles in the International Society of Infections in the Immunocompromised Host, Mycosis Study Group Education and Research Consortium, ESCMID study group for infections in the Immunocompromised host and TID.

She completed her Internal Medicine internship and Residency at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, and served as Chief Medical Resident at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She returned to Duke University for her Infectious Diseases Fellowship where she underwent specialized training in Transplant Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Eichenberger is now an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Infectious Diseases at Emory University School of Medicine where she spends the majority of her clinical time treating immunocompromised patients with infections. Her primary research involves understanding and improving outcomes in solid organ transplant recipients with bloodstream infections.

John W. Baddley, MD, MSPH, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He serves as Clinical Director and Director of Transplant and Oncology Infectious Diseases and as Associate Director of the Clinical Trials Core in the Transplant Research Center. Dr. Baddley serves also serves as Past-President of the TTS Transplant Infectious Diseases Section. Dr. Baddley’s clinical and research work focuses on infections in the immunocompromised host.
